East Hill Bible College – Discipleship and the End Times
In a follow up to our Bible College evening eschatology evening last Thursday Chris Goppert (Prof ) shared these important and relevant thoughts with our students. You may find them helpful.
As a follow up to our discussions over the last two weeks, I thought I’d share the following with the friends on the Bible College platform. If you feel it may have some relevance, feel free to share it or to forward it by e mail to the various friends.

Peter’s instructions to believers in light of the end times and threats to the church posed by False Teachers – 2 Peter 3:13-14
13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.
As we await our Lord’s return, how can we be found spotless, blameless and at peace with Him? The following points (below) may help us to fulfill this command, and to stay alert.
Live Godly – 2 Peter 3:11*
“…What kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives”
(Imitate Jesus – Eph. 5:1; 1 Pet. 1:15-16) – “Be imitators of God”
Stand Your Guard – 2 Peter 3:17 –
“…Be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men…”
(Be informed by truth – John 17:17; 2 Jn. 4)
Continue to Grow – 2 Peter 3:18
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.:
(Intend to Mature) – see: Ephesians 4:13; Hebrews 5:14; 1 Peter 2:2
Seek His Glory – 2 Peter 3:18 –
“To Him be glory both now and forever!”
(Integrate all grace and knowledge for His glory – (Matt. 5:16; 1 Cor. 10:31)
Regarding the time of His return, Jesus said, “but of that day and hour knows no man,” (Matt. 24:36). With respect to the time of Jesus’ return, G. Campbell Morgan points up “the hiding of that time is part of the divine counsel…Our attitude is to be that of those who watch. To know the day or the hour would make watching largely unnecessary, and this would rob us of that alertness which is the very essence of discipleship.”
